Thumble terms of service

Effective October 23, 2026. Thumble is provided by Cody Bontecou ("Thumble", "we", "us"). These terms cover thumble.io, the Thumble phone controller, Mac receiver, and optional cloud controller and AI connector services. Contact us at [email protected].

Using Thumble

By using Thumble, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service. You must be legally able to enter this agreement, or use Thumble with the permission and supervision of a parent or guardian who agrees to these terms.

We give you a limited, non-exclusive license to use Thumble for its intended purpose on devices you own or are authorized to use, subject to these terms and any applicable app-store license. We retain rights in Thumble's software, branding and website. Open-source components remain governed by their own licenses. Nothing here limits rights that applicable law gives you.

Devices, compatibility and game use

Thumble lets you use a compatible phone as a controller for a paired Mac over your local network. Supported devices, operating systems, games and features may vary. The setup guide and current store listing describe availability. The phone app and some integrations may be in a pilot or not yet publicly available.

You are responsible for checking compatibility and your game's rules before using Thumble. Thumble is not affiliated with or endorsed by Apple, Google, Microsoft, Blizzard, or the AI platforms you choose to connect. We do not promise that every game will accept virtual controller input or that use complies with every game's terms. Use controls safely and review any message or dictated transcript before sending it.

Demo, Pro and purchases

The demo includes the app's features for 30 minutes total of connected controller use across sessions. It is a one-time allowance, not a daily refill. Setup and local practice do not use the allowance. Pro removes the connected-use time limit; it does not add a separate feature tier.

Where available, Pro is a one-time in-app purchase with a US base price of $19.99. The store displays the actual local price, currency, applicable taxes and purchase terms before you pay. Pro is not a subscription. Apple and Android purchases are separate; restore an eligible purchase using the same store account on the supported platform. A Pro purchase does not promise perpetual operation of optional hosted services, compatibility with all future devices, or access to a third-party AI subscription.

The app store processes payment and governs its billing, cancellation and refund procedures, subject to your legal rights. For Apple purchases, use Report a Problem; for Google Play purchases, use Google Play's refund process. Contact Thumble support if an eligible purchase cannot be restored. These terms do not exclude any mandatory refund, repair or other consumer remedy.

For an app obtained through Apple's App Store, Apple's standard end-user license agreement applies unless the store listing provides a different applicable license. These service terms supplement that license and do not reduce your rights under it or applicable law.

Optional accounts and AI connectors

Local pairing and local controller use do not require a Thumble cloud account. Optional Cloud Controllers requires supported sign-in, a registered phone and a compatible AI client. Keep your account and connected agents secure, authorize only agents you trust, and disconnect access you no longer want. You are responsible for actions you authorize through your account.

Hosted connector tools can read, validate and save controller layouts, deliver an exact saved revision to a selected phone, and check its receipt. They do not send game input or complete purchases. A queued delivery is not proof that the phone displayed it; a rendered receipt confirms phone practice rendering, not game bindings or Mac input. AI-generated layouts may be unsuitable or inaccurate. Review and test them before use.

Third-party sign-in, AI clients, stores, speech services and games have their own terms and privacy practices. You may need a separate account or paid plan for them. Pilot features may be limited to invited or approved users, and availability may change as testing progresses.

Your layouts and other content

You keep your rights in layouts, labels, messages and other content you create. Give us only content you own or are authorized to use. You grant Thumble permission to store, process, copy and deliver your content only as needed to provide the features you request, maintain the service and comply with law. Connecting an AI platform may share content and account data with that platform according to the permissions you approve.

Do not use Thumble for unlawful activity, infringe another person's rights, gain unauthorized access, distribute malicious content, interfere with the service, or bypass account, security or demo/purchase controls. Restrictions do not prohibit activities that applicable law expressly allows.

Privacy and leaving the service

The privacy policy explains local storage, optional cloud accounts, purchase verification and third-party processing. You can stop using Thumble, disconnect agents and sign out. Signing out alone does not delete your cloud account. Use an available in-app account-deletion flow or contact [email protected] for an account or data request. We may need to verify account ownership.

Keep copies of layouts you need. Cloud deletion, local app removal and store purchase records are separate processes. Deletion and any necessary security, legal or backup retention follow the privacy policy and applicable law.

Availability, changes and suspension

We work to keep Thumble functioning, but connections, operating-system changes, third-party services and maintenance can interrupt it. We may update features or suspend access where reasonably necessary to address abuse, security, legal requirements or a material breach of these terms. We will give notice and a reasonable opportunity to resolve issues where practical; urgent risks may require immediate action.

We may change or retire optional hosted features. Where a change materially affects paid functionality, we will provide reasonable notice where practical and any remedies required by law. Changes to these terms will be posted here with an updated effective date. Material changes apply prospectively, with notice where required; we will seek consent where the law requires it.

Warranties and responsibility

Except for express commitments and rights that cannot legally be excluded, Thumble is provided on an "as available" basis. We do not guarantee uninterrupted operation, error-free AI output, a particular gameplay result, or compatibility beyond the published supported configurations.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, we are not responsible for indirect or consequential losses caused by service interruptions, third-party services or content you choose to use. We do not exclude liability for fraud, intentional misconduct, gross negligence, death or personal injury where exclusion is prohibited, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be limited. Nothing in these terms removes statutory consumer guarantees or remedies.

Questions and disputes

If something goes wrong, contact [email protected] with the problem and the outcome you seek so we can try to resolve it. These terms do not require arbitration, waive class actions, or restrict any court, regulator or consumer-protection rights available to you under applicable law.

If part of these terms is unenforceable, the remaining terms continue to apply to the extent permitted by law. A delay in enforcing a term does not waive it. The service provider is Cody Bontecou, operating as Thumble; references to third-party products do not create a partnership or endorsement.
